Tap dance is often considered a relic of the golden era of jazz that belongs exclusively to period musicals. Jack continually strives to form creative alliances across the entertainment industry and generate opportunities to revitalise the form for public audiences.

Jack's creative process begins with close collaborations with writers, directors, co-choreographers and designers to fully explore the possibilities with how to integrate movement and rhythm into a project. After extensive research, he then deconstructs music and story, develops themes and character styles, and experiments with how tap and/or body percussion can fuse with other dance forms.

Jack also advocates the use of a 'tap consultant' in the process of creating period musicals that include tap dance - an associate/co-choreographic role that involves working with a choreographer/movement director in their creative process to fully explore rhythmic and movement choices, collaborating with musical supervisors and orchestrators to develop choreographic musicality, coaching cast members with limited tap dance training and ensuring optimal sound quality with technical and design teams.
